Do I need a dance partner?

Absolutely, doesn’t everybody?

Well, while it’s really nice to have a great partner, you actually don’t need to bring one to class! In fact, you do not need to bring a partner for any activity at the studio. Our single-to-couple ratio in group class is about 50:50. Due to the way we teach group class, you will have the opportunity to dance with multiple partners throughout the lesson. In private lessons, the instructor will be your partner if you do not have one. Our dances are great social events with friendly students! If you have attended group class, those from the class are likely to dance with you. If not, it may take a few dances to get acquainted with the others there.

What does “dance etiquette” mean at Social Graces?

The easy answer is to not judge the other students around you and to focus on your own dance journey. We also strongly encourage the use of common courtesy as much as possible. If you come to a group lesson or a Friday night dance, be prepared to be asked to dance, and go dance! Even if you are new to the studio or dance as a whole, others enjoy dancing with those of all skill levels. If you are courteous and humble, then everyone will enjoy the experience.
